    Tracking teens while driving

I couldn’t think of anything worse than being tracked or tracking my family. If I wanted to know where they were in the case of a breakdown I’d get them to drop me a pin.

    Roe v Wade discussion

...When you misjudge what the population actually wants. https://news.gallup.com/topic/abortion.aspx Polling numbers from 1975 to 2023 show that only 24% of Republicans surveyed think that abortion should be illegal in all cases (https://news.gallup.com/poll/246278/abortion-trends-party.aspx), and only 13% of Americans polled in May 2023 (regardless of party affiliation) think abortion should be banned in all cases (https://news.gallup.com/poll/321143/americans-stand-abortion.aspx)
  5. DD's high school is providing supervision for yr 11's & 12's all day but after 12.30 for other year groups. DD will be staying home studying.
  6. To the PP who suggested unisex toilets make women unsafe because men can put cameras in there, let's not delude ourselves into thinking that it is only cameras in women's toilets being put there by men. There are men who creep on men and women who creep on women, so there is no assumed safety simply by virtue of gendered bathrooms.

Help! Plantar fasciitis - who to see?

OMG, I have had a similar experience, I saw a NHS trained podiatrist for skin related issues and she was awesome. Most of the men seem to only want to treat sports injuries based on their profiles. Don’t know that I have ever seen a UK trained Physio though. I live quite close to a Uni with a big Physio, Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology focus so many have trained just up the road.

@Willa May I finally got to use the mind blown emoji. Thank you for your awesome weight session. I rate it a success, not a fail @Dusty that’s an amazing achievement. Trusting your strength to be able to bring the bed back in again. Go those inner thighs and glutes! @kalanchoe claim that victory all weekend long I have nothing to report. Haven’t made steps in days. Managed team sport earlier in the week though! No running sessions for a few days and had to cancel RP today Not a good week

    Do you call people out?

Sometimes, depending on the behaviour. But I'm tired. Can't everyone just not be a dick?
  11. We’ve had confirmation late this afternoon that our school will be closed for the morning but would have kept my daughter home anyway in support.
  12. DD and I are synced up too. She’s on the Pill and I have a Mirena. I barely get a period with the Mirena so for a few years I really didn’t have much of an idea of when my cycle was. For the past 6-12 months I’ve been within a few days of DD. I started paying more attention to my body’s signs. PMT tends to get us both on the same day or so. I try to be less grumpy with her and give her some extra hugs when she or I are grumpy.
  13. DD and I have synced up, a friend and her DD have both synced up as well. Luckily for MY dh, neither of us get PMS but my friend's Dh has to cope with 2 very emotional women at the same time she says.

    Israel-Palestine conflict

Good recap here: https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/04/19/middleeast/iran-attack-middle-east-explainer-intl-hnk In a nutshell, it is because Iran has directly attacked Israel. Iran normally engages in the eternal conflict via its proxies. These actors are Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip, Shi’ite militias in Syria and Iraq, and the Houthis in Yemen) and they’ve either previously been in or recently escalated conflict with Israel in response to the Gaza destruction. But really I think Netanyahu is warmongering belligerently to save his own ass domestically. He was already in trouble before 7 October. Iran tends to have very fiery rhetoric but I don’t think it wants to escalate. Israel’s military capacity is far superior and with the support of the US, it would basically decimate Iran. So hopefully the last 24 hours is just literally fighting talk and not the start of a new front in the conflict.

    Arnold Schwarzenegger sings about rainbows

I hate, loathe and abhor deep fakes. But, bloody hell, they're some of the funniest things I've seen in ages. I'm particularly taken by the assumption that Arnie has only a loose concept of singing in one key

Absolutely. I knew quite a few people who paid their HECS off early to take advantage of the generous discounts, even when they weren’t earning much. I don’t know anyone who did it once the discounts were removed (besides myself, I paid the last quarter of my HECS off 2 years ago, in a lump sum, when I saw a 7% indexation on the horizon) I think indexation should have a cap, and that cap should be whatever you paid back that year. So, if you only paid back $500 in compulsory payments, because you’re only earning $53,000 a year or so, then your indexation can’t be bigger than that, no matter what your debt it. At least then no one will go backwards and get indexed more than they repay.

@charli73 $510 non claimable admission (Private Hospital ED) but due to time I arrived no one else there waiting in waiting room) so I had Fentanyl in my system within 5mins of arrival so very happy. I am a repeat patient so I am in the system there.
  23. Haha, female intuition Bebecita. Is it something to do with hormonal chemical signals triggering other women? Haven’t googled it. That’s my vague recollection.

Literally LOLed! You know what I can't understand - I now I have a 17, 19 and 21 year old and they still manage to want to talk to me whenever I go to the toilet. I have been sitting in my room on my computer for the last couple of hours and as soon as I jump up to go to the toilet, someone needs to speak to me? I mean, seriously? And they knock on my bedroom door and then continue knocking until I shout, "I'm on the toilet!" Alternatively, they begin to creak open the bedroom door - please... after 21 years, let me pee in peace.
  25. That’s bonkers Paddlepop. One bin for 16 girls? And of course even when I flatshared (four occasions with four groups of 3-4 women) all our cycles synchronised and that is fairly common. It has taken a long time for civilisation to accommodate the reality of women bleeding and it’s a work in progress..

    First period

@JenfleaPerri Menopause has introduced super short cycles of 16-21d after a lifetime where PCOS 45-90 day cycles were my “normal”. So I can now have a 16d cycle followed by a 21d cycle then a 143d cycle. So DD14 and I both get “Suprise Motherf*cker”. Thinx undies are both our normal underwear. DD is disappointed today. She can’t get the combined Pill (for Acne) due to increased risk of blood clots with Aura Migraines. So Mini Pill is her only Pill option when she gets older contraceptive wise.
