IF Christian Porter is forced out then his seat goes to a by-election. In a state where Labor just won a landslide state election. This might not play out on a federal level but people do like a good protest vote in a by election - especially when it can be seen as a referendum on the whole CP + Clive Palmer vs Mark Mcgown borders issue.

IF the Liberals lose his seat they no longer hold their current pretence of a majority and would be governing at the whim of people like Bob Katter and Craig Kelly, just as the world starts holding a big climate conference.

ScoMo has not tended to do well in a crisis.

This HAS to end badly for the LNP.

I’d take this as leader over Morrison.

I have a few reservations about Albo, but I can’t see Tanya Plibisek or Ged Kearney getting the leadership.

Yes I have some reservations as well. But Scotty must go!

I can’t wait for the opportunity to turf the current Prime Misogynist and his party out on their collective arses at the next election. He’s suffering a serious case of electile dysfunction. He’ll probably delay calling the election as long as possible though, in the hope this will all blow over and we’ll forget just how bad things have gotten.

What is the latest he would call it?

The latest the Federal House of Reps election can be held is the 3rd of September 2022, but the latest the Federal Half-Senate election can be held is the 21st of May 2022.

I can't say I'm super thrilled at Albo being the alternative, I guess he's an improvement.

I think I'm going to start pushing 'Vote in a Woman'. Don't care if she's red/blue/green. Can't be any worse I think.

Honestly, the superior looks from a cat are much easier to take than those slimy, derisive looks we have to deal with from Scummo - although they are not bullets so we should be grateful /s

Also “electile dysfunction” - one of the best phrases that I’ve heard and I’m going to borrow please Catzilla ?!?

🤞🤞🤞

I'm not a huge fan of Albo either but it's a pretty easy choice between him and Scummo.

Yep and an improvement on Shorten!

I really struggled to vote for him - I may have even donkey voted.

Def wont be doing that this time - ive gone from disillusioned to just plain mad!!

Go for it. It’s not really my phrase though - I think I saw it in a photo of a poster at one of the marches yesterday,

Some great slogans for sure - I couldn’t March but

I watched some live streams and saw lots of news coverage so I had spotted the “Prime Misogynist” on a sign and had a good chuckle 🤣🤣🤣

Can people say why they don't like Albo? Is it just that he's not overly inspiring (or a woman)? Or is there something else?

I was thinking we need to amplify Albo's voice on social media, since the Murdoch mainstream media don't.

He's just not inspiring. Of course I prefer him to Scummo but he's not the PM of my dreams.

I want Penny Wong but I doubt she's silly enough to put her hand up.

What pisses me off is that so many people just seem to make these vague, ill- informed voting choices based on a vibe....like, I don't love Albo..... Just because he's not flashy. I listened to that whole speech in the link above and it was great. Very inspiring. People need to look beyond the soundbites on the news and really look and listen, and vote properly according to policy and not spin.

I think albo has some issues from the past?

I think his recent tweets have been inspiring.

Hes doing a lot for the craft beer movement in Sydney (there is a lot is stupid red tape with taxes and such)

I like Albo. He seems like a thoroughly nice bloke.

I must say he doesn't come across as a great orator, but maybe we've become accustomed to the strident, rude, political exchanges and so he seems less inspiring. Labor cooperated with the government on covid measures, so there was a bit less argument from the opposition last year. He has some good colleagues.

He was more inspiring this week 😃 Anyhow, we all need to get behind Albo!

Albo's speech was inspiring. It's just in general he seems so flat to me. Shorten did as well.

Before the last election, Shorten made a speech about the arts and the role it had to play in creating the future we want and need. It was incredibly inspiring and nothing like the persona I had seen presented in the media previously. Up until then, I had just wanted "not-Liberal" to win but after seeing that speech I was gutted that the ALP lost.

I just wonder how much of this flat feeling is crafted by Murdoch and the like.

He gives me Kim Beasley vibes. Nice, an intellectual, a bit dorky, but no cutting edge or killer instinct. Apparently he was a firebrand in his youth though, so who knows.

Nah, in his youth he was adept at talking the talk but not actually walking the walk, which I must say has continued. He has always been a very good political operator.

I first came across him in the mid-90s when he won Grayndler following Jeannette McHugh’s retirement, with one of the more vivid memories being of him screaming at myself and another woman friend who were selling socialist newspapers at the entrance to one of the polling booths. That didn’t impress me then, an older, more powerful man yelling at two younger, less powerful women and he hasn’t impressed me since.

I’ll vote Labour higher than the Libs but that’s it.

For me it's because he'd dumped all their good policies scared he can't sell them. Leaves nothing to vote for and does not take the argument to the other side. THey have so much to work with and he either says nothing or is ignored.
