In summary, per the Guardian:

it’s a good decision - it’s what we always tell our internal clients - if you want to rely on the defence of honest opinion, get your underlying facts right. you may well say Person X is a horrible person for sending an abusive text message. that’s fair comment, honest opinion - but did they in fact send that message? always gets your underlying facts right.
