Men - ‘I don’t know why women act like all men are predators, 99% of us are fine, stop acting like bitches when a guy talks to you’

Also men - ‘Well what did she expect going home with a guy she just met? Kind of asking for it, how about a bit of personal responsibility’

I made the mistake of answering the question today "How can men make women feel safer?" with the answer "Stop attacking and raping us" and my god the amount of hate and defensiveness was absolutely mind blowing.

I must confess that I'm not familiar with him - a quick Google shows that he works for Channel 10 and the Australian, and has previously worked for Sky News, so I'm thinking straight away that he's a bit of a nasty, right-wing hack. What particular piece of foulness has this delightful-sounding individual perpetrated?

Here you go.

Be warned the detail (the article itself) is not pleasant.

And in other news, police banned a gathering for Sarah Everard on Clapham Common in London last night because it ‘wasn’t safe’.

As one participant said, “The irony of it is so explicit – are you going to drag women off the street for protesting about a woman being dragged off the street?” I’d personally paraphrase that slightly to the effect of the irony of police dragging women off the streets to protest a police officer who has been charged with dragging a woman off the streets and murdering her.

Sometimes I;m a bit p'd off that I stood my ground over a few things in the seventies and eighties - more eighties, thinking/hoping that each bit of resistance from women to accept second class status would lead to changes.

Now I wonder if I should even have bothered.
