I love Clare as a first name. Love love love. Elegant, classy, timeless.

I really dislike Violet. Not even in the same league as Clare. It looks and sounds like VIOLENT to me.

Violet is fine - not one of my favourites, but it's pretty. My DD1 has a friend named Violet so I hear it quite often. :D Any of the middle names would be lovely.

My DH nixed Vanyel as it sounded like Vandal. On second thoughts I agreed

If you like colour names, what about

Indigo

Sienna

Ruby

Sapphire

Scarlett

I really like Violet, we just can't use it because of our surname.

I never associated with violent until reading that on EB a while ago... And I still don't really, I think because violet is a word in its own right. Maybe if a violet wasn't a flower I would see violent more.

I agree, I’ve never made or heard the association with violent. Only on EB. To my eyes and ears it’s a flower and colour, soft and feminine.

We know 3 Violets. I think it's a pretty name.

I like Violet Clare. How many syllables is your surname? If only one, then I'd go with a middle name of more than 1 syllable.

We had a number of people suggest Violet to us when we had DD. The suggestion always made us laugh as we decided on another purple flower for her name.

Princess Peach

I like it. Not too common, but not out there that she will constantly have to be spelling out her name to everyone she meets.

Violet Elise is my pick as well.
