blueshoe
Just finished season 4 of The Crown and looking for a recommendation. And yes, I know there’s a whole “what are you watching” thread but there’s too many options there! I like shows with plot, must have good characters and good writing. Mystery/crime etc or medical dramas good, nothing too soapy. Preferably not too much foul language as I often watch in 5 minute bursts while kids are occupied nearby. My all time TV faves are West Wing and The X-Files, have recently loved Handmaid’s Tale and adored Marvellous Mrs Maisel. Hit me with your recs!(Have access to Stan, Netflix and Amazon plus free to air)ETA Mrs Maisel, can’t believe I forgot it! Silverstreak
Virgin River is good, although I'm cheating on it with Orange is the New Black. I really recommend OITNB, but not for kids due to language, nudity and occasional violence. The acting and dialogue is fantastic.

s_mdn v2.0
I'm revisiting Travellers, after trailing off from watching it ages ago. I'm a little hooked.Schitt's Creek is very funny.Superstore does not fit your description, but it has some funny commentary that looks like fluff, and is fine for watching around kiddies.Bump on Stan was kinda adorable. WaitForMe
I've begun rewatching Bones. I haven't seen the last few seasons but I'm starting from the start. It can be a bit gruesome at times but often its only a few quick shots.
