Ernegirl
Lots of movies are pointlessly remade in my lofty opinion. What movie do you think could never be bettered in a remake.I nominate Groundhog Day,

Sincerely
I don’t think a remake of Thelma & Louise could ever evoke the same audience response as the original.Personally, I just can’t imagine a worthy remake of My Brilliant Career. Bad Cat
I second The Princess Bride and Shawshank Redemption. I'm not a fan of remakes (be original or get out of my face), but I can't think of another movie that comes together so well that a remake would be a crime. I think it’s interesting that Hollywood tried a whole string of remakes with gender reversals - Ghostbusters, Overboard, What men want, Hustlers (Dirty rotten scoundrels). None of these movies were all that brilliant, but they were entertaining to watch.

Antifa
The Vanishing. And a pox on the person who DID remake it, in English for an American market, and completely changed the ending so that the film lost all its lingering horror.
