LifesGood
DS9 would like one for Christmas / birthday this year and while I have not decided to get one I realised I know very little about them. When I quizzed DS he said he likes playing Mario Kart and other games on his friends Xbox. What is the point of them? How is it different to games on an iPad?How much do they cost? If there are various models which one is best for DS?Anything else I need to know? Thanks for any help!
leosmum
First things first, Mario is exclusive to Nintendo so if that’s what he likes playing with his friend, they may have a Nintendo Switch, not an Xbox.

Spidey_Senses
OP We have a switch in our family and love it but its worth noting that switch games tend to be more aimed at family / party style games, x box have more online / serious gamer type games and aimed more at older kids. (roughly) There are still lots of games like racing, soccer etc which are fine for all ages. Switch games tend to be quite expensive unfortunately. Xbox games are at launch but drop their prices a bit more so you can pick up more bargains. How it is different to an ipad is that the games are a lot more involved and complex and some are multiplayer. (Although I dont have an ipad but Ive played on one)
Bethlehem
We have Xbox and lots of lego games for little kids. Fun. It’s like an old school console - uses the tv, can have up to four playing stuff.
