How/where do you store your digital photos?

After losing our wedding photos (they disappeared from my external hard drive- fortunately our photographer was able to make them available on drop box, even after so many years) I am on a mission to do something with all the other photos I have stored on the PC and various drives. In addition to actually printing them out and putting them in albums, which will take me ages, I want to save them somewhere safe. I thought apple's iCloud would be the answer but as I am uploading old photos (starting with DS's baby photos) they are appearing on my iphone. Which isn't exactly what I want -I have thousands of photos I want to save and don't necessarily need to access them from my phone.

I'm looking into other options and thought I would ask here. How and/or where do you save your photos? Any recommendations?

DH has a solid state hard drive connected via cable in a fire proof safe in our house. He's in IT specialising in cloud and disaster recovery.

I’ve got a device called ‘The PhotoStick’. It automatically checks for photos files on your computer and removes doubles.

I found photos that I thought were lost. If you have your iCloud photos saved on a backup on your computer, it can find them too.

I have one and my husband has one, so now we have photos in an alternate location for safe keeping!

I'm a bit paranoid about losing photos, so I've got my photos backed up on OneDrive, as well as on a dedicated photo storing computer, and again on an external hard drive.

I want to print more of my photos and store it on Google Drive. I just find it so time consuming. I was planning on printing 10 photos a month just so I have hard copies. It is so hard to remember though.

I also have an external hard drive I update periodically.

What I would love is a feature where the best say 20-30 photos per month are compiled into a digital photo album automatically, similar to photo slideshows you get on apple or FB - but not for public viewing. I know I can do it manually but gee it's a pain trawling through hundreds of photos.

I've started putting photos together for albums- it took over a week of dedicated attention just to put together one album of a trip to Japan. It quickly became work and not-much-fun.

I have a cloud backup and a couple of hard drive backups (2 different computers).

I really need to do a cull and consolidate actually.

Re: your iphone, can you change a setting so that your photos are in the icloud but dont appear on your phone? Id assume its under icloud settings or the photos app. (Im on android )
