WaitForMe
There aren't really any interesting landmarks where I was born and spent my childhood. However we had a lovely park down the end of my street where I played from sun up to sun down with the neighbourhood kids.It had a creek where we tried and failed to catch frogs. Several good climbing trees. And a makeshift bike track and jumps some of the older kids had made.

The whole area has changed sooooo much in the last 3 decades. BKK is still around though and definitely much safer now lol

Willa May
Where I"m originally from: Ooooh, I recognise that place very very well. :grinning: Yes, when you know it, it’s a fairly recognisable view.I’m assuming you’re either a past or current local, or at least a very frequent visitor!(edited b/c I messed up the quote-within-a-quote) Yes current. I often park in that back carpark, the dirt one and have time to myself, I like to watch the seagulls. The actual beach part is one of our favourites to take our dog to. I absolutely adore where I live. I definitely don't take it for granted.

I absolutely adore where I live. I definitely don't take it for granted. It was certainly a lovely place to grow up! I spent my early years on the south side of town, but in my teens lived very close to that beach. I had some of my wedding photos taken in front of the bathing boxes. The twists and turns of life have taken me over to the other side of the bay, but I still get back a few times every year, lockdowns notwithstanding, to visit family. overlytired
To reiterate what I said in another thread, I'm jealous of everyone who has easy access to the ocean beaches. Sigh./pity party

Sancti-claws
This is from just down the road where I grew up And yes, that is a main thoroughfare for many (although their is a detour - unless you went through my extended family's paddocks it adds about 100km to your trip.) Bee Girl
The cinema in the town I grew up in. It only ever showed 2 movies at a time and intermission was in every movie so you could go get snacks and go to the toilet. Everyone had their birthday parties there or at Bushland park.
