What’s making you happy today?

As I was driving home today everything was so bright and cheerful after the recent rain. The council workers have been out in force, everything is freshly mown and green and the blossom trees looked so pretty. This week wasn't as crazy as last week but I'm sure glad to be home on this lovely afternoon

So glad I bought petrol on Friday night on the way home from the hairdressers. When I headed out to shop earlier I noticed it had gone up from 119.9 a litre to 160.9 for E10, ouch

Something that made me happy on the weekend is my mother asking a priest if he wrote pornography. Hilarious. Not sleazy as it sounds. Long story. He’s going to be so important in the next few months. He already feels like a part of the family.

It's autumn! Best camping season there is!

Yeah mum and her partner are taking their Oka for a few weeks camping (well they have a pop up trailer on the back)

I noticed my bin hadn't been emptied when I left for work this morning but saw there were some maggots crawling on it. Resident boy wasn't working today so I messaged him to bring it in and toss a bucket of water over it. He did so much more than that, no more yukky wriggly things in sight and clean inside and out

I was looking for this thread, glad it's jumped back into the actives.

The other day I had two really nice random interactions

First, when I was walking all the kids to school we stopped at the road and waited for a car that was coming to go past. As they went past the lady driving called out to me "you must be a great mum"

Then, after we went to the doctors for the poor 2yo gunky ear, we went to the pharmacist for antibiotics and the pharmacist there as I was paying said something very similar.

It was nice to hear. The kids, credit to them, were behaving very well too

My house frame started going up today - it wasn’t supposed to start till Monday. So much has been delayed by COVID this is exciting.

Eldest has declared panic! At the disco’s high hopes his favourite song right now.

I feel like Bad Cat would be proud of my parenting.

Our school got three places for girls and two for boys at Somers Camp and DD got one of the places.

Somers Camp is a outdoors type camp for 160 kids from our region so hopefully she will meet some kids she might go to high school with.

I don’t think I should have it published. Might be better to pm.

This, which I bought off Gumtree for $25. The seller said it was probably worth hundreds as it is inlaid with gemstones and shells. I believe her, as I just found a brand new one on ebay for $650 starting bid or $900 Buy It Now. Australia appears to be NZ Paua shell (Abalone?)

Finally found a hot cross that was not too dense! It was light and fresh and scrummy! Oh my god! Heaven!

Lol! Scrummy not scrummaging

I just got back from my first church service since COVID and it was wonderful, really felt like I was home. So many sweet faces I have missed and such warm greetings, love our little congregation

My husband retired yesterday. He's been working full-time and studying for 50 years. He deserves some me- time.

I usually work on Friday mornings, but not today since Woolworths is closed. Appreciated the opportunity for a Friday morning sleep in (if you call 6:30 a sleep in, when I normally get up at 4:30 for work on a Friday).

Technically, this made me happy yesterday, but it's still making me happy now, so here goes:

my kids are away (one at camp, one at grandparents) so after work I Went Shopping and am now the proud owner of new boots, sandals, walking shoes, jeans, long sleeve tops, tracky dacks, hoodies, and a travel guide to Tasmania, as we're on holiday next week in Hobart. And because it was Easter Tuesday, I got the last day of the Easter sales at Myer, meaning that quite a lot of my purchases were heavily reduced- my shorts were reduced from $60 to $2!

I took my dog to the vet and he was a ‘very good boy!’

(He has played up in the past but all the training has been worth it 😊)

I love my little team. Even with our manager on leave this week and a co-worker interstate for a funeral until tomorrow, we are managing by pulling together and supporting each another. We are normally 5 guys and 2 gals, with ages from early 20s to 50s, but we all get on so well. Down times are fun with this lot.
