Lego Masters 2021

The fox was breathtakingly beautiful.

Technically what got me was that there was no room for error in the scale. It had to fit in the bubble, every bit in scale. No little fixes.

Thankfully it was only the first episode that goes to 9.30pm, the others are now finishing at 9pm. Next episode is Sunday night.

Princess Peach

Haha. No the auditor with the Lamborghini...who appears to think the last minute is a good time to do things on 2/2 builds so far...

He would drive me mental as a colleague.

I spent 8 years as an auditor & leaving things til the last minute is not a good idea.

Totally off topic, wages for auditors must have gone up a massive amount as there is no way I could have afforded that type of car on my salary, let alone pay rent & have the extensive lego collection that he does.

Seayork2002

We only caught up last night so I have no been on here till then, no it does not matter with the show but I am curious with the teams who are couples/friends or put together on the program? I have watched the clips when they talk about themselves but I still can't pick up how they know each other

I am just curious and yes I have tried googling

great series and we all loved the fox!

From what I can scavenge from various articles.

Anthony & Jess | QLD possibly put together

Hotel concierge Anthony, 20, specialises in building authentic replicas. Meanwhile, science communicator Jess, 30, loves a challenge by building upside down or on strange angles.

Atlanta & Jeff | SA A couple

LEGO enthusiasts Atlanta, 25, and Jeff, 28, met at a Supanova convention while working for a luxury Dungeons and Dragons dice company. Together they own several thousand dollars’ worth of LEGO and spend 10 to 15 hours per week on their incredible builds.

Amy & Dawei | VIC they are friends

These competitors certainly know their stuff! After meeting in 2019, Amy and Dawei, both 33, created their own YouTube channel, Foxy Bloxie, where they review LEGO together.

Ryan & Gabby | VIC they are put together

Ryan, 42, is an avid musician and Gabby, 39, trained in theatre arts and stage management. These two creatives are ready to put their imaginations to the test.

Ryan is also the teacher and Gaby is an OT.

Sarah & Fleur | VIC I am not sure if these two are friends or a put together. But they are a good match.

The Brick Pit sure won’t be daunting to these LEGO-loving mums, with Sarah, 45, owning an estimated 50,000 LEGO pieces, while Fleur, 42, has around 110,000.

Owen & Scott | WA definitely friends

Although these 26-year-old friends have very different minds on a creative level, they believe they complement each other perfectly. Scott looks at the bigger picture and Owen is detail-oriented.

David & Gus | VIC I think they were put together?

Engineer Gus, 36, knew that LEGO Masters was the perfect opportunity to challenge his creativity. Along with project manager David, 41, the pair are excited to show off their skills with unique and creative builds.

Harrison & Michael | NSW/ACT definitely friends

Harrison, 26, and Michael, 25, quickly became friends in high school after they both discovered their shared love of LEGO. But do these pals have what it takes?

I thought Ryan and gabby might be members of the same lego community group. They seem to know each other’s strengths and be very strong.

I thought there was a clip with Jess showing their combined lego collection? Could be wrong.

I wonder if it’s an advantage or not to know each other.

We are watching this on freeview at our pace - so have just seen the snow globes - amazing! Although Brick Man did annoy a bit re Ned Kelly - he can be rather obtuse at times.

I also have no idea how the numbers add up there either. Which, given I am an accountant, is interesting, to say the least!

I thought Ryan and Gabby said early on in one of the episodes that they are married to each other, and then one of the other male/female pairings said they were married, but not to each other. Have only half been paying attention though.

It was Ryan and Gabby that made the comment they are like the old married couple of the group, but they aren't married to each other. Yes I get the feeling that they know each other through the Lego community. Even if they aren't part of the same group a lot of AFOLer's attend (and display) at other groups shows, follow each other social media etc so even if not in the same group may be very aware of each other.

As for advantage vs not advantage? I think generally temperament and life experience would outweigh that. Look at season 1 - Kale and Bilsey never stood a chance while Cade and Henry found a great combination. Certainly, putting together two skilled, passionate Lego builders should be an advantage over a great Lego builder + family supporter but if the fellow AFOLer is not a team player???????

Even though I really don't care much for Lego, I'm quite enjoying it. Now if they would just get rid Brickman... His idea of funny is totally whack, and if he carries on about how everything has to bright colours one more time I might hurl a brick at him.

Naaww we love brickman. He is a real person rather than a polished performer that can be a bit fake.

I want that treehouse as a set - it’s gorgeous!

Agreed! I like it better than the actual treehouse kit.

We are not up to date but I saw this on Reddit and thought it was interesting. I haven’t been following on Facebook, so I haven’t seen any particular hate for anyone.

That's really sad if there's been hate towards them. The whole thing about Lego Masters and Masterchef is that, yes there's competition but there's no manfacturered drama or bitchiness between contestants and although us viewers can judge talent or skills, we are certainly not hating on the people participating.

So interesting apparently the Aussie Youtuber lady Potterminifigpals, was approached for this season. She has a video on why she turned it down ( she was in NSW, and had to come to Melbourne, filming was during lockdown, so she didn't feel comfortable etc etc), basically making out like it was filmed late last year. However I also know that Ryan, who works in a school near me, only spent first term of 2021 off to appear in the show.

Does anyone know when it was filmed? Were they going to film last year but moved it?

I can not imagine why there is any angst towards Sarah and Fleur, they are delightful and ever so clever.

Probably started by butt hurt men who can't believe women are perfectly able to be Lego experts.
