Coles is selling my favourite size and shape mugs

I thought I was in the fluffy vents thread and couldn't work out what was bad about this!

I do that so many times myself when I read on the two threads

We finally have proper internet back after 6 days.... yay!!!

It’s been patchy and slow due to an upgrade in our area.

DH has been planning to making something for weeks. Just bought a second hand one cheap and he is fixing it up. Should be done by tonight rather than take another month or so.

I didn't drive over the water dragon sunning itself on the driveway. They are camouflaged there and I didn't see it. Hopped out of the car and there it was, looking at me. About 1 foot away from my back wheel.

  • 2 weeks later...

I found my older kid an in person tutor. A specialist literacy tutor even. I've been looking for over a year and not even having luck finding an appropriate online one, and then the speechie mentioned someone new to our town and she happened to be a DSF tutor. First session today.

School goes back tomorrow, so might get a few hours peace and quiet with DD at school and DH back at his one day a week of Uni.

I needed to get a laptop sleeve for the kid now his use of a laptop as an accommodation at HS had been approved. I just picked up a basic one from Kmart and scanned it and it came in at 20 cents. Yep 20 cents. So I went and grabbed the other one that was left so when/if this one breaks we have a backup. If must have been leftover from the back to school stuff even though all the ones hanging nearby were marked as $15

Not So Retro

This -

I like the cover by Wollongong band Lord that gets played on Triple M Hard and Heavy at work but this live version of the original (written not just by John Farnham as he says but also by keytar maestro David Hirschfelder and a cast of thousands) is all I love about overblown 80s/early 90s music. Lindsay, Venetta and Lisa (big hair!) on backing vocals and is that Mark Ferrie from Rockwiz looking very animated on bass?

DD finally was presented with her guernsey tonight, ready to play her first game of Aussie Rules in Under 7s on Sunday morning (the season actually start last weekend, but she was rostered off for that game).

"Vernoun."

A word coined by my frustrated DD when I was trying to explain that sometimes a word is a noun and sometimes a verb, depending on context. "But last time you said it was a verb and now it's a noun?! I'm just going to call them all vernouns!"

It's hard to argue with that logic :-)

Community- cause my family haven’t been to ED in a few months I thought it was my turn again.

Really bad Hive break out. Nearest medical attention is 40min drive away. Parents are away. Can’t drive myself as hives affecting eyes and could barely open.

Thankfuy ED said it was good I came in and I was triaged to a bed immediately (despite them being busy) in and out in an hour and the hives has only fine started to ease. Despite a shit metric tonne of antihistamine.

Compare the pair.

Had to ask a friend of my parents to drive me.

Another friend had to come and put steroid cream in the areas I couldnt reach.

Between my legs is crazy bad. I had a bottle of mineral water between them to try and cool/take the sting out.

Local chemist made me do show and tell to staff to show them a bad case. (Not thighs but tummy).

have done a summary of what I have eaten over the last 24hrs. Nothing new or unusual.

So ‘stress’ hives is the likely diagnosis.

Bornagirl

Covid shot at 1:10pm today!

I can't believe how happy I am about it. I kept wondering what was making me feel nervous/anxious, then realised it was excitement.

Flu vaccine done and dusted, and unlike previous years, I barely felt a thing. I got it done at the same pharmacy last time and felt it more then. Maybe the pharmacist telling me to imagine a kitten playing with a ball of string at the time today had a psychosomatic effect on me.

Oh, and this cupcake that I treated myself to afterwards from the new BTS outlet at Westfield Marion. Called the Dita von Tease, the only (to my knowledge) vegan cupcake on the menu, there was nothing “teasing” about it. This was the real deal - a decadent chocolate cupcake with smooth as chocolate frosting. Definitely a sometimes food.

My big kid independently sorted something out at school rather then getting me to email about it. (Finalizing the laptop exemption process so he can finally take a laptop to school rather then handwrite everything.) Apparently all it took was me telling him that he could go to the office and talk to them about sorting the rest of it out as I'd signed the forms...

I'm incredibly blah about the unit I'm enrolled in with Uni this semester. It's so hard to engage with and I'm lacking motivation. The last assignment I literally left until the last minute to write (I literally wrote it in 5 hours and then rather then doing much more then a basic edit handed it in). I'm happy because rather then barely passing like I expected I got 73%. It makes me slightly more motivated to try and work a bit harder on the next assessment.
